TV Junkie
All you have to do is look at the left side of this page and you’ll see a list of my favorite shows. Actually, that list doesn’t even include some of the other shows I watch when I have time like Revelations and Extreme Makover: Home Edition. Thing is, even though there are a lot of things that I “watch” there are very few that I will sit down for and provide my undivided attention. Las Vegas is one, American Dreams used to be one before it was brutally ripped off the air without resolving its cliffhanger ending and for the last 11 years, ER has been one of those shows as well. Rumor has it that Carter is leaving the show and that, I have to admit, makes me sad. It’s not just because he’s an amazing character but because that show itself (of which he has always been a part) spans across almost half of my life and to see it change and probably end in the not so distant future, is pretty disappointing. Gone are the days of good quality TV. Hours and hours of broadcasting are filled with Reality TV crap and I worry that some day there won’t be anything good left to watch. In the mean time I think back to the first episode of ER. I was in 8th grade, 13 years old. It was the first show I ever stayed up late to watch. It was the first show that I felt I had to watch. I think its safe to say I’ve grown up in that time, graduated twice, married, got a job. Kinda makes me wonder what i’ll do on Thursday nights when the show ends for good. Until then, I’ll be watching.
